Traditional barriers       Tecnoreef system
Traditional barriers designed to preserve coasts from sea erosion, do not efficiently fulfil their role. The horizontal force of a wave breaking on the vertical surface is simply deviated either up or down. The downward force digs into the sea bed and, as the wave ebbs, it carries away material from the bed, gradually lowering it. Because of the erosion of its base, this type of barrier requires constant maintenance.       The Tecnoreef system approaches this problem with a simple and effective solution: it does not try to stop the force of the sea, it absorbs it. The open structure of the Tecnoreef module allows the wave to enter within, where a large amount of turbulence is generated, substantially lessening the force of the wave itself. The turbulence generated inside each module is very important. The microscopic materials carried in the water tend to deposit

Made to measure protection

The use of numerous modules assembled in a pyramid means that the degree of protection can be customized to the characteristics of the coast and the force of the sea for each individual site.
