The Tecnoreef system was invented to safeguard the marine environment from all of its enemies. One of these is poaching which, through the use of drag-nets, can devastate the extremely delicate ecosystem in a matter of minutes. These nets are dragged along the sea bed for kilometres, indiscriminately snaring up anything that happens to be in their way. With no natural shelter, flora and fauna is substantially diminished. The modular Tecnoreef structure offers an excellent shelter from this type of fishing. Drag-nets can only be used profitably on sea beds with no rocks; in areas like the ones just mentioned which are frequently subjected to this kind of abuse, Tecnoreef is a highly effective deterrent and causes no problems to normal navigation.
